We had initially planned to have Dax's 1st B-day celebration at Burchfield Campground (Lock 17) on the Big Warrior River but scheduling problems changed our mind at the last minute and we decided to have his birthday party at our house. I'm so glad we did. Especially since it had rained pretty long and hard all week long.
I was afraid that all the games, BBQ and etc. we had planned for the big kids (there were a lot) at Dax's Birthday Party would get rained out. In case it did we could move the party inside and stay dry.
Even though I planned on keeping his B-day party very simple I did throw together one game for the big kids to play in case that happened. I picked a "pin the tail on the donkey" game but since Dax's B-day party was frog themed I changed it to "Feed the frog." Same idea as pin the tail on the donkey, except for a tail I cut out flies to stick in the frogs mouth. I got the idea from internet.
I also bought some side walk chalk so they could color on the patio since there's a roof over it.
Turns out we got a beautiful sunshiny day so the big kids did actually get to do all the things I had planned for them such as water balloons, bobbing for apples, and playing on the slip-n-slide (much better than the ones we had growing up) in addition to the "feed the frog" game I drew and cut out for them. Everyone was able to eat their BBQ outside and later homemade ice cream too.
It was GREAT. Especially the water balloons. Clint and I never got a chance to fill all of them up the night before so we just had to fill them up as we go. A couple of them got thrown at me since the kiddies were standing beside me waiting for me to fill up and tie another one. It actually felt good though since it was hot. I got the ultimate revenge at the end though since I was holding the hose pipe.
Still haven't gotten the pics from Dax's Grandmother yet. But I'll post them later when I do get them.
Claire, Isaac and Hannah later got in the frog pool behind Clint's mom and Ashton. Isaac's diaper was so droopy from all the water it was hilarious to watch him walk around in it.
Maw Maw (my mother) in the background chowing down on the best BBQ any of us had ever tasted - no exaggeration. Everyone agrees...Clint is an awesome cook/chef!
Jennifer was hungry. Apparently,
Dax was happy to oblige
Sweet Birthday Boy! I promise he wasn't naked the whole time...

I had planned on making
Dax's cake, but with the constant migraines I kept getting before his party, I never got the time. This frog cupcake-cake saved the day, plus it was VERY cheap.
"Feed the Frog" game I made for the kids in case it rained. I had a blast making this game. I can't tell you how long it'd been since I'd played with construction paper and glue. I was a little worried about how it would look since I'd never made a gigantic frog (or gigantic anything from poster board) but the kids seemed to really enjoy it.
Clint's idea to add a UFO - because "it'd be cool to have one." He was very pleased to see I had made one and added it to the "Feed the Frog" game

The cake Jennifer and Brody (Jason's Nephew) made for
Dax to play in after we sung happy Birthday to him. This cake was
soooo good. It tasted way better than the one that came with the frog cupcake-cake.
This is
Dax's Pattoned Jimmy H. look. So solemn - I can hear those wheels just a
turnin. Like "why are these people all staring with goofy smiles on their faces and what are they singing about?" Cracks me up...
At first he wanted to just eat the candle or the chocolate at the bottom anyways. He kept dipping the candle in the cake.

After we got through playing "feed the frog" game, I took the frog off and let whatever kids were left sign it as a B-day card for Dax. I signed the names of those who'd already had to leave. One of which was Baby Caleb (like he could write anyway - he's 1.5 mos. younger than Dax). Dax was glad to see his future fishin buddy again.
