NUTBUSTERS!!

My Fall obsession was not repairing drought damage to my landscape,  Instead we've been completely inundated inutdated with pecans.  Necessary requirements for a successful seasonal business:

1.  A Willing Helper.

Check.

2. Product.

CHECK!!

3. A well thought out assembly line process. - Super check.

4. Presentation.

check.

For the most part, we've enjoyed our daily process.  Picking up as many as we can in order to make room for all the ones that will drop the next day.  Siting down and cracking them.  On goes the gloves as I shell them and separate the easily cleaned ones from the pecans that need extra attention to clean out the crevices.  Weigh em, bag em  and then Cha Ching!

It's amazing how many pecans you can shell while watching the news, movies or spending time with the fam.  Surprisingly, we've had company want to help out when over watching football games.  Friends that didn't even like to eat nuts, just wanted to shell them (I think to break up the tension when our team wasn't doing so well).

Dax even gets in on the action of shelling.  He said to me.  "I help you"  After grabbing one and picking a few pieces off, he put it in the bowl and said "I did it" for the next 5 minutes while running around.  It's been a fun experience.  Though they drop every year. we'll definitely look forward to doing this again next time we have a really good year for them.  Which is typically every 4-5 years.

We cannot believe how many are still falling.  We've sold close to 30 lbs and we have 10 lbs freshly shelled sitting in our fridge right now.  A wonderful blessing at such a bad time in our economy.

If your pie is rank, and it needs some taste....

 who you gonna call?....

(Sometimes it's fun to be a little cornballish)
