Kitties and Braxton Hicks

Oh yeah - forgot to give an update on the kitties. The novelty of me being prego and them being protective has completely wore off - they are sooo over it already... ;)

Gracie Kitty comes and crawls under the covers with me sometimes in the mornings and lies right next to my belly (SWEET) that is until Dax starts kicking her - she gives the unhappy meow or the "Rrreor" meow and runs off. HAHA!

My dad thinks we should get rid of them but I don't know how we could do that - they are both de-clawed which means they can never be outside kitties again (a bed we made and now have to lay in- well, it was actually Clint that wanted the Italian leather furniture hence the reason they are de-clawed).

I'm not scared of them biting Dax or clawing him, I'm worried about germs, allergies and them getting right in his face. We'll wait and see how it goes once Dax is here - if there's problems, then neither of us will hesitate. But it will break even my heart if it comes to that - they literally lay around the house all day just thinking up ways to be precious!

It looks like my fun days of the 2nd trimester are over - I thought I might have at least a little fun at the beginning of the 3rd. I'm getting the Braxton Hicks already - on top of the new excruciating RLP it scares the crap out of me at night and is quite painful. I didn't realize RLP were that uncomfortable. They aren't really that bad I guess, I think it seems it happens when I'm trying to sleep - like Mrs Angelo said it makes going to bed at night miserable. Cross your fingers for me that it will ease up - I'm hopeful... but like I said earlier - as long as Dax is fine and not in distress - I'm still as happy as a tornado in a trailer park.

Good News

I gained a pound instead of losing – Yipee, it's not much but it'll do. I asked if everyone's "iney" belly button eventually pops and he said no, but mine probably will b/c I'm thin – (yeah I totally looked around the room to see if he were talking to someone else). I may have not put on much weight, but I still wouldn't call myself thin. LOL! And I know, of all the things to ask your OB – who would think to ask if your belly button will pop. – haha. I get so excited even over the small things.

However, my belly (not belly button) finally has officially popped. I've been showing for quite a while, but in the last 2 weeks it has finally been just out there, no matter what time of the day it is and I'm carrying LOW and is probably the reason I'm having such a time with round ligament pain. Although I don't think I'm going to have a huge belly; I still think it's kind of small. Even despite other people saying by looking at the belly that Dax is going to be big. I don't see why they think that. ;)

We got our crib 2 weeks ago also but haven't put it together but I'll admit that every time I walk in the back door and see it (still in the box) it puts me in a good mood!!

Enjoying the Spectacle!

Dax likes to move move move. This week I can literally feel him move off and on all day long. Last week I had to be in a certain position. I found it by happenstance. I was putting a big pillow under my knees (that’s to keep me from sleeping on my back). When I reached up to get something I noticed a big thump thump. The closer I pull my knees to my chest, the more he moves and the easier I can feel him.

Picture me sitting on the bed in a delivery position (the one you see in the movies anyway) holding my knees up to my chest with my feet dangling in the air talking to my stomach. Clint walked into the room and said WHAT are you doing???? I said "he moves when I do this – like crazy" Clint said "stop it – he probably doesn't’t like it!" I can’t help but to try it every now and then anyways. Sometimes it feels like my stomach being taken on a roller coaster ride. Even though I love roller coasters, I hate the Free Fall and other rides like that because it does nothing but take your stomach. But when Dax does it, I find myself sitting there wanting him to do it again. ;)

But, now I wait until Clint has gone to work so he dozen’t have a hissy. But we both talk to the belly no matter how ridiculous it may look or sound, because Dax moves more if you talk to him. The bad thing is, is that it’s in the same tone that we talk to the cats, so when I’m in there doing that – they come a running. This morning, !TORNADO! came to see me, and when he saw me poking gently on my belly in certain places (which will also get a reaction from Dax) !TORNADO! started making biscuits too, but on the bed (you know, when they start gently stepping repetitively like they are kneading dough – well, we call that making biscuits). For a minute he reached out his paw like he was going to make biscuits on my belly (like they normally love to do) but then after thinking over the matter, he pulled his paw back and continued making biscuits on the bed. Oh yes, animals do sense when you are pregnant. It may be the way everyone is careful around you as well as yourself or they just have that instinct, but they definitely know. !TORNADO! noticed sooner (about 4wks of me being pregnant) – it took Gracie kitty a LOT longer (about 16 wks).

Since they’ve noticed, they follow me everywhere I go, sleep by me or at my feet, wake me up in the middle of the night by putting their cold nose on my face and even bypass jumping or stepping on my stomach when coming to be pet. Sometimes I get hot in the middle of the night and will get up and walk outside – these cats will get up with me, follow me, watch me out the window while I’m outside, and then follow me back to bed. It’s absolutely crazy. These cats never did this to me before. They always were Clint’s babies and very rarely bothered me – only when he wasn’t there occasionally. I never liked clingy cats, but now it’s just so crazy and sweet that it really doesn’t bother me. Those two cats are like Clint who?

We finally made it to BabiesRus to register, and Clint walked around the store the entire time like a big kid playing with the scanner. He was like "I just scanned your foot, now I scanned your hiny and now I’m scanning Dax. HAHA! I did most of it online, as I knew it would be complete torture for me to get the smaller detailed stuff.

When it came to the bedding stuff I figured Clint could care less – NOPE! He was very particular. He made sure that even though Dax is going to be a newborn and could care less what his surroundings looked like – every thing had to be very much a "man’s man kind of room for baby" lol. Anything that had yellow, stars or looked remotely too cute, Clint said No way!

We Have Movement!

Last week, the day after the U/S I got another surprise – I felt Dax move for the 1st time. It felt like he was running his fingers across the other side of my stomach. I could barely feel it. But then yesterday I felt him big time! It’s like he was trying to stick a fist/foot right through my stomach. Like my stomach had a huge heart beat! LOL!

Is that normal?

I didn’t think you started feeling those kinds of movements until you were further along.

When I felt him for the first time, I thought Clint would be as excited as me, but he didn’t seem to be so I asked him "Are you not excited about it? I finally felt him move!!" He said. "I’m jealous; I want to feel him move too!" I told him he will soon enough. For now he (Clint) is having fun talking to my belly. He’ll say "Hello…." "Hello…anybody in there?" Then he’ll say – he’s not talking back… ;)" Ha-ha. I’m married to such a nut case.

Everybody hold your breath!

From Dax

From Dax

From Dax

Clint was speechless, I started to cry and Mom was excitedly asking questions. Being overjoyed when we found out it was a boy is an understatement!!!!

I was so happy yesterday, that it was like finding out I was pregnant all over again and the same feeling when Clint surprised me early with a ring and proposed. Ha – yes we were together 6 years at that point and you can hardly call that early, but it was right when his father was at the sickest so I expected it to be the last thing on his mind at the time. Each and every time I end up so excited I jump in his lap and just give him a big hug – ha- ha. Although yesterday I couldn't' do that since I had goo all over me. ;) I was so happy to hear that the baby looked "great – perfect – and a very good size" I was so worried because I hadn't gained a pound and I was so afraid the baby would be too small or underdeveloped. And when we saw it was a boy – it was too much! I actually teared up - AWE! Clint was so happy he was speechless – he was off the rest of the day and Lord only knows how many cartwheels he turned when he got home. Mom must have called everybody in her cell phone contacts before we even got out of the U/S room.

Not only is Clint the last chance to carry on the Powell name in his family, but I also found out why he wanted a boy so bad. He said, "I was really starting to worry… I know nothing about little girls" – Awe!! I couldn't help but laugh and said you really don't know anything about raising little boys either, this is your first. I think he's terrified of worrying non-stop with a girl (as he noticed my Dad still does ;) But he will now have his fishing buddy!!

NAME: This was so easy for us – the girl's name too. Since I didn't get a girl this time, I'll use it if I ever do have one. Since we saw the...um..."turtle," (so the u/s tech called it) it's Spinner "Dax" Powell. ;)

(Jac Parker said "I like it, but with a name like that you know he's destined to be a wild child). Those of you that knew Clint's wonderful late father know where "Spinner" comes from. Clint really liked the name Dax and when he found out what it meant, he was determined. It means "one who loves the water." Really funny when we told Dr. Goolsby that, because we had just got through asking him if it were okay for me to be in a bass boat when I'm further along. Because of the name meaning and all the questions, he picked up that Clint was a big fisher! He said – "Spinner Dax" I like it, it's a good strong name….and if the next one is a boy again and you get stuck on what to call him, you can just call him "Crank Bait." ; )

So it looks like we will have our little man and both of us couldn't be happier about it. We must have watched that video of the U/S six times last night. And when he would move (which was a lot - like he was already saying let me out of here I ready to go) it was just too too precious! I want to hold him now already.

Funny that the whole time I didn't have a clue what I was having and leaned more towards a girl. The last two days when Clint pressed me for a final say, I just knew it was a boy. Guess that intuition kicked in... Even if it were very last minute. So maybe there's some hope for me yet.

Who thought Boy or Girl: This was b/f the ultrasound....
FOR THE RECORD...
UPDATE on the last UPDATE: Big day is tomorrow and I'm going to officially say that I have changed my mind and am going with a boy - funny thing is that Clint has changed his mind as well... he now thinks girl.

Dan says it's going to be a Tero number 2 and Jac says a boy. Mrs soon to be Cheeky thinks it's a girl too due to the payback. I seem to be hearing that a lot. Why on earth do all these people think I've got a lot of payback coming??? LOL!! hmmm... I wonder... ha-ha.

Oh and if any of y'all know Kenleigh - go check out her pictures if you haven't already - she just had a gorgeous little girl.

For Lizzie, it won't be long - I can't wait to see pictures of her - she's going to be as beautiful as Kenzie, I know it!!

Update from today: One more vote for a girl - from Angela. :)

That makes the count 50/50 at this point.

Original Blog:

I had another dream last week, or the week before and this one was bizarre only this time my baby was a boy, but it was the second baby – not the first. I had a dream that I was 7 mos pregnant with a little girl, but then I became pregnant while I was already pregnant with a little boy. So, they were going to cut my uterus in half when the girl got big enough so the boy could have a little longer (crazy stuff!). While I was getting ready for the big ultrasound to verify it was a boy which for some reason I already knew - strange, I got in a big fight with one of the nurses and they told me I couldn't have it the ultrasound, because of my attitude and that's about the time I woke up.

So my mind is spinning with anticipation, I always wanted my first to be a surprise, but because Clint's got to know and all these crazy dreams and the wives tales I'm dying to know right now who guessed right and who guessed wrong.

This is the tally of who thinks it's what.

Clint's mother (she's got a very freaky talent for seeing things before they happen) thinks it's a girl. She's said that from day one and she's positive. However, this could all be because she has three grandkids already and they are all boys from Clint's Half-sister Diane.

Clint thinks it's a boy and refers to this little munchkin at all times as he.

I however can make myself refer to little one as he. She always comes out of my mouth. I'm just having a hard time thinking it's a boy (despite the one week that I thought it might be) I've just got girl on the mind and it's been very hard to think otherwise before and even after the dreams of the boy. I'll be shocked if it's a boy.

Lizzie- Thinks it's a boy. This mama's on her second so she's far more intuitive than myself I can tell you that now. ;)

Dani – I believe def thinks it's a girl (I heard tell she has a strange knack for guessing right).

So that makes 3 guesses for a girl. 2 for a boy.

My Mom could be the tie breaker, but she says she's wavering… haha. She was thinking girl at first but is starting to wonder if it's a boy. Like Mother like daughter…

Anybody want to be the tiebreaker???
