More June Fun & Hard Knocks - Literally

Welp... still have a virus on my computer. I naively thought that virus protection came with our At&t Internet package. But I unfortunately found out otherwise when I contracted a virus on my computer. We are trying to get a friend of ours to come look at it so we won't get overcharged at a computer fix it place. But he's busy with his house, so I'm going to try to do it myself before giving in and taking it to get it fixed. I'm actually on the look out for a lap top, so if anyone hears of a good deal, please let me know.

We've been spending a lot of time at Clint's mom's. Our next door neighbor came up one day and Clint, Joel, Me and Dax decided to go fishing in the early morning. We rode down to a spot where Clint thought they might be biting. It was one of the many launches that are on the big Warrior and while we were fishing off the pontoon there were two guys that had just launched and while I was watching them get their boat in the water I got a bite. Boy was that fish a fighter too.

Clint started hollering "Joel get the net!!" So while I was fighting to keep him on my line, Joel was trying to get the net under the fish (and doing a bad job of it too) so at the same time Clint was yelling "Hurry Joel, Hurry, he's about to come off!" Finally Joel got the net around him and took the fish out. As soon as he did, I snatched it from him and turned around to Dax and held up the fish in front of his stroller that was covered with a bug net and said "Look Dax, look what Mama caught!!!" As I heard Clint yelling to the two guys launching their boat - "That's my wife!! She's still got it!!" I realized they had been watching the whole time and probably laughing under the breath because we looked like the biggest rednecks ever.

I mean, we were fishing off a pontoon at 6:30 in the morning with 2 guys, me and a baby. From what I was wearing (the mu-mu strapless sundresses that I wore to be comfortable while pregnant with Dax) and the fact that Dax had a bug net covering his stroller and there's no way they could see how big or old he was... to them it probably appeared as if I just brought him home from birthing him in the hospital and went straight to the river to fish. Especially with Clint hollering "That's my wife, she's still got it!!" ha ha.

Clint was hollering that because the last time I had actually picked up a rod, I caught 2 big ones. That was on Mother's Day of '07. So he was tickled that I was stumping him up to that point.

I fell in the river and look what bit me...

Dax has gotten to where he naps very well now at the river. That is until he started teething. His top 2 teeth are coming in. One has made it already, the other is trying to make it's way in. Poor guy is such a trooper. The only thing (out of the many things we've tried) that works is massaging his gum with the finger tooth brush I have.

Clint's made the comment before that he didn't even know Dax could cry until he started teething. Well, this time seems much worse than the bottom 2. However, it still seems like nothing compared to what I've heard from other parents regarding the crying and screaming when it comes to teething. So we're crossing our fingers it stays like that - especially for when the incisors make a go at it.

If it likes stuffed frog animals, squats like a frog, goes ~ribbet~ like a frog and "sleeps" like a frog - then it's a frog...

Dax has been cruising for a while now and does it well. Actually... he could do better. ha ha. Clint's mother told me that they were always too scared to let Clint have any ATV's or etc. growing up because - in his own words - he was too clumsy and that would have made her a nervous wreck. Clint and Glenda said he was always getting hurt and Clint himself said he liked to headbutt things when he was little.

Like father - like son... We have to watch Dax like a hawk 24/7 and sometimes even that's not enough. You'll think he's got his balance while trying to walk and he'll just about have it, then bonk! This kid actually climbs better than he walks. So needless to say even though I'm really NOT in a hurry for him to walk, I will be glad when he gets a handle on the balance thing so poor angel can stop bumping his head so much. He's knocked his head with my mom, Clint, me and even Clint's mom was present for one of them and it liked to have given her a heart attack. I can be standing right there, right up under him and he'll still somehow manage to get lose from my grip and fall. But, he's got to learn right?? I'm just praying he doesn't hurt himself bad in the process.

3 boo boos in 2 days....can you spot them. They are all on his upper brow.

2 of the marks as you can see in the picture above are right on top of each other. He made the 1st while still in his crib after waking up from a nap. I'm about to invest in a video monitor - seriously!!

But, what a happy happy boy he is. Here are pictures that Clint took while having some Father and Son time.

Happy Father's Day

No video card. ... I made one, but I have a virus on my computer, and until I get someone to get it off I won't be able to post it (that's if it is still there). So my Father's Day card is going to be a bit belated.

In the meantime Happy Father's Day to everyone. This is Clint's 1st Father's Day and so far he's having a great one. Here are a couple of pictures that I haven't lost.

We rode down to Lock 17 and Burchfield Campground. That's where we are going to have a ~VERY~ small Birthday celebration for Dax when August rolls around. It's getting close!

Glenda said Dax had the "mercury look" while we were out for a ride. She explained to me that "the mercury look" is what she and Clint's dad referred to as the look you have after going for a boat ride.

DaxCam

We had just got down to the river and I was momentarily feeling sick at my stomach, so Dax and I chilled out on the bed for a few minutes. Dax is still in the "everything goes to the mouth" stage and he was cracking me up when he'd go for the lens.
