A Lifetime of Special People

She Answers to Sister, Mother, Wife, Grandmother.  Aunt to me and Sherry to everyone else.  There is far too many different avenues to go down when you are trying to sum up what's most likeable about her personality.  It's taken me since June to figure out which one to take.  June 27th to be exact, because that's when her Birthday was.  [Happy Belated Birthday Aunt Sherry] Or figure out why she's always been a special person not just in my life, but our entire family and everyone who knows her.  Am I fond of her so much because I've been told my entire life how much I favored her when she was my age?  Is it because I share many of the same mannerisms?  Or is it just simply because she's my Dad's sister, my aunt and has always been there?  Since it seems we are raised with a special duty or loyalty to love and care for those that are blood related it's definitely not a given.  More than not it just doesn't play out that way.

Sherry and Jimmy [my Dad] Duty and love are two very different things and even though I actually do love my Aunt Sherry because she's been there from Day 1 but only because since Day 1 she's wrapped me up in one big blanket of love and has never stopped.  She's done so for all the children in her family as well as her friends' children.

My Aunt has had such a non stop giving and nurturing nature (still does) that's it's impossible to totally return the favor.  Even if you did, there's no way she'd even consider letting you do the same for her.  So, I do what I can and that's just love her back, be thankful I have her and visit her as often as I can with Dax so he'll have a chance to know and love her like I've do.  My Uncle and Aunt both are extremely wonderful people and I love them dearly.

Like I said above, it's very hard to put into words the many many reasons of why Sherry R. P. is so darn special. So I'll just list some of my favorite things about her.

2 things I've heard often in my life.  The first is that I favored her above anyone else in my family for the majority of my existence.  Our own family often mistakes old photos of her to be me.  The second is that I have her unmistakable boisterous voice that carries.  Considering that my Aunt was/is really really pretty when she was younger (of course she still is) and the fact that people love to hear that same boisterous voice coming their way I definitely take it as a compliment.  I love being told that I favor her.

She NEVER misses one birthday.  Every birthday she makes us our choice of anything we want.  I usually pick chocolate oatmeal cookies.  Everyone says their G-mother or Aunt is the best cook, mine really is.  She can do anything.

My Aunt Sherry kept me and my brother along with other kids and out of all the babysitters or daycares I ever went to, she was hands down the best.  I'll never forget some of the memories I have from the days spent with Aunt Sherry and messy mouth crew on those hot summer days.

She always picked the best movies when we were little and would let us rent them as many times and we wanted.  She never got tired of watching them with us either!!  Whenever I hear of Xanadu, Monty Python, Willie Wonka and a few others, I fondly think of my Aunt Sherry.  She was the coolest!!

Though me and Aunt Sherry both get impersonated for our voices that carry, she has one of the softest I've ever heard as well.  For the most part when she speaks, it's very calm and soft.  It's always comforting to be in her presence.  Though that actually may have nothing to do with the way she talks and more to do with the fact that you know she loves you and genuinely cares about your well being.

She's a hard worker and often gets up early with her job but (as I keep saying) no matter how hard her day has been or how tired she is, she'll be more concerned with how you're doing than she will be with yourself.

Aunt Sherry, thank you for being the person you are!  I love you and will always cherish what you do for me and the rest of our family!  It wouldn't be much of one without you.

It's been a good while since I've posted and have especially gotten way behind on these particular posts.  If you regularly follow our blog, you'll know what and why I'm posting them.  If you are new and aren't familiar and/or are curious click on the folloing and read the first couple of paragraphs:
