I Think That Possibly, Maybe I'm Falling For You...

Me, Dad and Dax are on our way to GA.  Hopefully we'll come back with lots of pics and good news about Emma.

This is Dax's favorite song.  Whenever this commercial would come on the television, he'd stop what he was doing and just stare and then start swaying back and forth.  He likes the song so much that I had to download it and put it on my Ipod so he could listen to it in the car.  The name of the song is "Love in a Coffee Shop" by Landon Pigg.

This is the commercial.  I'm sure you've all seen it.  It's such a sweet commercial.

Final Update On Emma

They have taken Emma Brown's appendix out.  She and baby are fine.

It was worse than they thought.  Her appendix had ruptured quite some time ago.  So long ago that it affected her colon.  So they had to remove part of it.  Of course they'll still have to keep a very close eye on her and baby boy.

She'll be out of commission for at least a month due to them having to remove as much as they did.

My mother is already there in GA with my brother and their 4 kids.

Me, Dad and Dax will go up hopefully Thursday at the soonest to try to help out.  Emma Brown also has cousins in the states that I believe will be coming to stay until Emma is recovered.

We are sooooo thankful that everything is okay.  Please continue to keep the safety of Emma, baby and her recovery in your prayers.

In case you are wondering or confused by why we call her "Emma Brown,"    it's because Emma Brown is her name.  Much in the same way some people are called Mary Anne.  I'm sure you all knew that, but in case you were wondering since it's not a common name (but a pretty and unique name) I thought I would explain so you wouldn't think "Brown" is her last name or something.  Especially since I sometimes refer to her only as Emma.  That's just to shorten it for typing purposes.

Sips and Strokes

For a friend's, Dani, birthday we got together and painted pictures directed by a real artist.

I think everyone did well. Dani's sister Mary Ann really did well.

Me, I'm just not an artist, so I did the best I could. Which was pretty dreadful. I'm going to have the same lady come to my house for an early B-day present to myself on November 7.

A Date with 2 Women on the Same Day

Dax had his 1st haircut today. He had sort of a Bill Murray style going for him. You know, like a receding hair line mullet.

Since Leigh Ann took his 1st year pics today, I went ahead and had Marci cut it for the 1st time. I always thought I'd let Dax's hair grow out (not too long) but longer. After thinking about the times he'd been mistaken for a girl I figured it might not be a good idea as that was sure to happen if I let his hair get too long. Plus, it might not look that good on him. I might let it get longer later on, but I'd definitely have to wait until the top caught up with the back.

I love that look, like he's saying "take me to 'Mean Gene's, a real man's barber shop, not a beauty salon" Marci and I joke about Clint refusing to have his hair cut there for that reason alone. He feels to uncomfortable going to a "beauty salon"

The card Marci gave us was too sweet. I can't believe how dark the cut hair looks since his hair is so platinum. The mystery of Ash blond I guess.

If you are looking for a new stylist, go see Marci at Generations. She's awesome. I go back to see her at the end of August because my hair is in desperate need of some Marci skills. Since I'm no longer working, I've had to manage with it myself and it's just not working out too well. If you're a guy, and the "beauty salon" isn't for you, then go see Mean Gene. If you're from around this area, you know the tradition - purple bubble gum and old men - it doesn't get any better.

More Birthday Pics

Grandmother (Clint's mom) came to see Dax yesterday. I was able to download the pictures from her camera of Dax's B-day party and pictures of Grandmother, Clint's Sister Diane and her 3 boys Austin, Anderson and Ashton at the Outlet Mall.

Who Needs A New Background? We Do We Do!

I like my background a lot, but I think it's time for a change. "Once upon a Blog" Design Shoppe is having a "grand re-opening/birthday celebration" and is giving away prizes.

I want one of those prizes! Her backgrounds are too gorgeous, cute and everything else. You can check them out here.

And Just Like That...

Dax is walking at 1 yr and 1 week. He's walking pretty good when he wants to. Though of course he's still a little clumsy.

Party Time

August 1, 2009

We had initially planned to have Dax's 1st B-day celebration at Burchfield Campground (Lock 17) on the Big Warrior River but scheduling problems changed our mind at the last minute and we decided to have his birthday party at our house. I'm so glad we did. Especially since it had rained pretty long and hard all week long.

I was afraid that all the games, BBQ and etc. we had planned for the big kids (there were a lot) at Dax's Birthday Party would get rained out. In case it did we could move the party inside and stay dry.

Even though I planned on keeping his B-day party very simple I did throw together one game for the big kids to play in case that happened. I picked a "pin the tail on the donkey" game but since Dax's B-day party was frog themed I changed it to "Feed the frog." Same idea as pin the tail on the donkey, except for a tail I cut out flies to stick in the frogs mouth. I got the idea from internet.

I also bought some side walk chalk so they could color on the patio since there's a roof over it.

Turns out we got a beautiful sunshiny day so the big kids did actually get to do all the things I had planned for them such as water balloons, bobbing for apples, and playing on the slip-n-slide (much better than the ones we had growing up) in addition to the "feed the frog" game I drew and cut out for them. Everyone was able to eat their BBQ outside and later homemade ice cream too.

It was GREAT. Especially the water balloons. Clint and I never got a chance to fill all of them up the night before so we just had to fill them up as we go. A couple of them got thrown at me since the kiddies were standing beside me waiting for me to fill up and tie another one. It actually felt good though since it was hot. I got the ultimate revenge at the end though since I was holding the hose pipe.

Still haven't gotten the pics from Dax's Grandmother yet. But I'll post them later when I do get them.

Claire, Isaac and Hannah later got in the frog pool behind Clint's mom and Ashton. Isaac's diaper was so droopy from all the water it was hilarious to watch him walk around in it.

I had planned on making Dax's cake, but with the constant migraines I kept getting before his party, I never got the time. This frog cupcake-cake saved the day, plus it was VERY cheap.

"Feed the Frog" game I made for the kids in case it rained. I had a blast making this game. I can't tell you how long it'd been since I'd played with construction paper and glue. I was a little worried about how it would look since I'd never made a gigantic frog (or gigantic anything from poster board) but the kids seemed to really enjoy it.

Clint's idea to add a UFO - because "it'd be cool to have one." He was very pleased to see I had made one and added it to the "Feed the Frog" game

After we got through playing "feed the frog" game, I took the frog off and let whatever kids were left sign it as a B-day card for Dax. I signed the names of those who'd already had to leave. One of which was Baby Caleb (like he could write anyway - he's 1.5 mos. younger than Dax). Dax was glad to see his future fishin buddy again.
